Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Vikram is a disciplined mess. By mess, I mean the large quantity of a substance that Lokesh tries to incorporate into a single film. And this ‘could-have-been’ plot is well handled with the correct designation of star charisma. Lokesh lavishly mounds the abstracts on star power. We have Kamal Hassan, Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil, and Suriya. The stars and their charisma exert an ambitious prototype that may not be otherwise visible.
Kamal is a seasoned actor and a superstar at the same time. His act is still smooth but dialogue delivery seemed off in many places. Much of Kamal comes in the second half. Fahadh gets the lion’s share in the first half and he makes it worthwhile.
It is good to see Vijay Sethupathi donning a new body language. Suriya sets the screen on fire! The humongous screen presence of the actor and the adamant command of the character makes you forget the underwhelming portions. The visual grammar is all Lokesh Kanagaraj and Girish Gangadharan.
