Thallumaala (2022) Full Movie Review

Khalid Rahman makes an underwhelming story a really cool theatrical experience, with some unconventional tropes. Not to blame anyone, but the fights that pop up at regular intervals are the saviours of this pop culture prototype and them alone!

Tovino Thomas, Lukman Avaran, Shine Tom Chacko, Binu Pappu and Gokulan get into fights more than often and their camaraderie in bashing each other is note worthy attribute of the film’s mood. Kalyani Priyadarshan doesn’t make an impact in this male dominated (for good) film. Johny Antony baga yet another father role, we wish to see him in.

Jimshi Khalid’s cinematography, that speak volumes about the big production values and the specificity of each actor’s fighting style, is the show runner. Vishnu Vijay has done a really good job with the background score. The score that goes “Lola… Lola…” makes room for the mass celebration that Muhsin Parari aspired to create. But his screenplay devoid of the fights, don’t interest the viewer. The songs are a huge downer, so is their placement. The editing is neat.

Overall, Thallumaala is what its creators advertised it to be- a chain of fights. The fights are well choreographed and shot. A film doing very good on the grounds of its aim, needn’t be valued less. So Thallumaala is an unconventional yet engaging ‘THEATRE WATCH’
